FBM KLCI - consolidation likely to continue


Stocks on Bursa Malaysia ended last Friday broadly higher amid mixed Asian markets, as investors bargain-hunt on Friday which lifted the benchmark index off the 1,800 level due to spillover effect from the strong initial public offer (IPO) debut of UMW Oil & Gas Berhad (UMWOG), which offset concerns that the United States Federal Reserve (Fed) may trim stimulus sooner-than-expected. The FBMKLCI rose 3.56 points or 0.20% to 1,810.41 after moving between 1,801.69 and 1,811.15. On a weekly basis, the key index fell 7.16 points from previous week's 1,817.57. Gainers led losers by 420 to 360 with 308 counters unchanged. Total volume fell to 1.815 billion shares worth RM2.097 billion from the 1.89 billion shares worth RM2.19 billion on Thursday. FBM KLCI - beginning of a short term correction

Stocks on Bursa Malaysia ended lower yesterday as investors cut risk exposure on heavyweights after the US Federal Reserve’s policy outlook was seen as less dovish than expected. The market was dominated by profit taking with investors bearish on the latest decision by the Fed to maintain its quantitative easing policy, while awaiting more evidence that the US economic progress would be sustained before starting any tapering process. The FBMKLCI was down 10.53 points or 0.58% at 1806.85, after moving between 1,804.56 and 1,815.15 throughout the day. Losers led gainers by 457 to 327, with 440 counters unchanged. FBM KLCI - rebounded to close marginally higher
