FBM KLCI - likely to move range-bound with a bearish bias

Stocks on Bursa Malaysia rebounded to close higher last Friday on continued buying interest as investors regained confidence in the market, influenced by positive news from the European Central Bank (ECB). The local bourse was also mirroring the bullish performance across the region after the ECB outlined its bond-buying programme to help lower borrowing costs of struggling countries like Spain and Italy. The FBM KLCI gained 6.56 points or 0.41% to close at 1,624.55 after opening 0.98 of a point higher to 1,618.97. On a weekly basis, the FBM KLCI loss 21.56 points from 1,646.11 on last Thursday. Gainers beat losers by 480 to 261, while 305 counters were unchanged. Total turnover declined to 1.14 billion shares worth RM1.72 billion from 1.30 billion shares worth RM1.99 billion on Thursday. Weekly volume rose to 6.63 billion shares worth RM8.52 billion from previous week's 5.09 billion shares worth RM5.18 billion. Read more
