Stocks on Bursa Malaysia closed mostly lower yesterday in
tandem with losses on regional markets burdened by concerns over the Euro-zone
debt crisis, as well as doubts that stimulus initiatives by policymakers
worldwide was enough to spur growth, and investor sentiment on global markets
was also dampened by the weak business confidence in Germany. The FBM KLCI,
however, gained 0.72 of a point to 1,619.30 after touching an intra-day low of
1,612.78, driven by recovery in share prices of selected heavyweights. Decliners
beat gainers by 374 to 283 with 342 counters unchanged. Turnover decreased to
889.356 million shares worth RM1.448 billion from the 989.375 million shares
