FBM KLCI - lower in line with weak regional performance

Stocks on Bursa Malaysia closed lower yesterday on continued losses in selected index-linked companies, in line with the weaker regional performances. China saw its shares down by 8% amid renewed fears about the country’s economic outlook, influenced by the unprecedented government intervention in early July. The ringgit dropped to its 17-year low of 3.811 against the US dollar. The FBM KLCI fell 11 points, or 0.64%, to 1,709.76, after fluctuating between 1,709.76 and 1,718.60 throughout the day. Losers outnumbered gainers by 609 to 290 with 266 counters unchanged. Total volume rose to 2.22 billion units valued at RM1.8 billion from 1.74 billion units valued at RM1.5 billion. Read more >>

FBM KLCI - lower on rate hike fear

Stocks on Bursa Malaysia finished on an easier note yesterday in cautious trading, in tandem with most regional peers as the upbeat US jobs growth fuels talk of a Federal Reserve (Fed) rate hike. Indices of most Asian stock markets slipped lower, after strong US employment data bolstered expectations of a Fed interest rate hike before year-end. The benchmark FBM KLCI fell 5.88 points, or 0.34% to close at 1,739.45, after hovering between 1,727.01 and 1,741.11 throughout the day. Losers outpaced gainers by 532 to 254 with 308 counters unchanged. Total volume rose to 1.24 billion units worth RM1.38 billion from 1.18 billion units worth RM1.32 billion on last Friday. FBM KLCI - higher on technical rebound



Stocks on Bursa Malaysia closed higher yesterday supported by consistent buying activities in selected heavyweights, while regional bourses were traded on a mixed note as investors remained cautious over the economic uncertainty in Greece. The FBM KLCI rose 7.8 points or 0.45% to 1,749.17 after hovering between 1,743.12 and 1,750.68 throughout the day. Gainers outpaced losers by 444 to 358 while 307 counters were unchanged. Total volume slipped to 1.48 billion units worth RM1.99 billion, from 1.73 billion units worth RM2.15 billion recorded on Tuesday. Read more >>

FBM KLCI - higher on follow through rebound

Stocks on Bursa Malaysia bucked regional trends to close higher yesterday lifted by gains in selected plantation heavyweight counters, as well as Petronas Chemicals and Tenaga Nasional Berhad. The local stock market remained resilient despite the weaker regional markets which drifted after weak US retail sales figures suggested the world’s largest economy is struggling to maintain growth momentum. At close, the benchmark FBM KLCI rose 4.53 points or 0.25% to 1,807.55, after hovering between 1,803.63 and 1,807.9 throughout the day. Gainers led losers 411 to 355, with 359 counters unchanged. FBM KLCI - lower on cautious sentiment

Stocks on Bursa Malaysia ended lower yesterday on lack of buying support for local equities amid cautious global sentiment. The benchmark FBMKLCI shed 10.2 points or 0.56% to close at 1,822.06, after moving between 1,817.2 and 1,827.29 points throughout the day. Market breadth was negative with losers outpacing gainers by 519 to 278, with 284 counters unchanged.
