Stocks on Bursa Malaysia closed broadly higher yesterday as continued buying interests in key heavyweights, led by telecommunication companies like Axiata and Maxis, have managed to ensure the local bourse close on a firmer ground for two consecutive days. The FBM KLCI, which opened 0.34 point lower at 1,660.33, rose 4.75 points or 0.29% to close at a new record high of 1,665.42. Gainers thumped losers by 416 to 265 while 370 counters were unchanged.
