Stocks on Bursa Malaysia retreated yesterday on weak buying amid lack of investors due to the festive holidays. The local bourse erased earlier gains despite positive regional developments as most investors are still away for the Chinese New Year break, and the local bourse failed to take the cue from the bullish regional market after the Bank of Japan kept its monetary policy unchanged and raised its assessment of the economy. The FBM KLCI ended 0.27 of a point lower at 1,630.89 after opening at 1,635.27, and the barometer index had moved between 1,630.37 and 1,635.55 throughout the day. Gainers outnumbered losers by 319 to 268, with 287 counters unchanged.
