Stocks on Bursa Malaysia finished higher yesterday with the FBMKLCI closing at a new record high of 1,814.11 points, surpassing the previous all-time high of 1,810 registered on July 4, 2013. The better performance was lifted by persistent buying interest in selected blue-chips and key heavyweights, led by SapuraKencana which rose by 5.39% to RM4.30, provided the biggest boost to the benchmark barometer on news that it planned to acquire all interest in Newfield Malaysia Holdings, ahead of Friday's 2014 Budget announcement. The FBMKLCI gained 10.53 points or 0.58% to 1,814.11, after fluctuating between 1,805.64 and 1,817.93 throughout the day. Gainers thumped losers by 474 to 330, with 341 counters unchanged. Total volume slipped to 1.711 billion shares, valued at RM2.123 billion, from Tuesday's 1.852 billion shares valued at RM1.825 billion. ...Read more>>
