FBM KLCI - likely to trend higher

Stocks on Bursa Malaysia rebounded to close higher last Friday on last minute buying support in selected heavyweights amid a weaker Asian market which was hit by profit-taking after ticking up on Thursday in response to the US Federal Reserve chief, Janet Yellen’s dovish comments on inflation which raised the likelihood US interest rates will stay at record lows for at least another year. The FBMKLCI ended 4.24 points or 0.23% better at 1,885.72, after fluctuating between 1,872.64 and 1,887.54 throughout the day. On a weekly basis, the key index gained 8.98 points or 0.48% from previous Friday’s 1,876.74. Advancers led decliners by 420 to 405, while 319 counters were unchanged. Total volume declined to 1.51 billion shares worth RM2.06 billion from 2.04 billion shares worth RM21.12 billion on Thursday. Weekly turnover rose to 8.58 billion shares valued at RM28.27 billion from previous week's 6.22 billion shares worth RM7.62 billion. Read more>>
